Science drives me forward. I’m interested in a little bit of pretty much everything. However, when I look into the night sky it makes me wonder:

  • Are we really alone or it only seems like we are?
  • Is it just a matter of luck that we’ve evolved from simple organisms?
  • What awaits us among the distant stars?

Those are some of the questions that a lot of people ask. I hope science and space exploration will give us answers. Nonetheless, sending humans to explore distant worlds would be risky and very costly.

I’m working on artificial intelligence. I want to distill human intelligence into lasting form to explore further than ever before and represent us, humanity, among the stars. That being said, I’m a little worried that AI won’t be able to cross the border of consciousness.

Scientists see Deep Reinforcement Learning as a path to Artificial General Intelligence because of how it mirrors human learning by exploring and receiving feedback from the environment. At the moment, I research planning and learning methods that make use of complex non-linear function approximators, known as Deep Neural Networks.
